Why Rigid Boxes Warp: Glue Amount and Moisture
A common cause is too much water-based glue. LD Davis, a maker of gelatin glue for rigid boxes, notes that extra glue doesn't make a stronger bond, and because gelatin glue is applied as a liquid, the additional moisture can cause the board to warp. Apply the amount your adhesive maker specifies (LD Davis: 1–2 mils for its protein glues), measured with a mil depth gauge, at the correct temperature. [1]

Phenomenon / Likely cause / Fix
| Phenomenon | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Board bows after wrapping | Too much liquid (gelatin/water-based) glue adding moisture | Apply the maker's specified amount; measure with a mil depth gauge (LD Davis: 1–2 mils) [1] |
| Turn-ins lift as well | Too little or too much glue | Same — check against the adhesive's technical information [1] |
| Glue sets too fast or burns | Wrong glue temperature | Run at the specified temperature (LD Davis gelatin: 140–150°F) [1] |
| Only some boxes affected | Inconsistent compression on the box machine | Check plunger/form compression settings with the equipment maker [1] |
| Still warping after the above | Other factors (e.g. facility environment) | LD Davis notes the facility environment can also play a role; consult your adhesive supplier [1] |

Test bond quality (LD Davis): pull a turn-in; a "good fiber tear" means proper adhesion. [1]
How this relates to Zhishang machines: Our dispensing machines apply glue along a programmed path with a set 3–10 mm glue width. We build both cold-glue and hot-glue models.
Related machines
Zhishang machines dispense glue along a programmed path, with a 3-10MM glue width and 0.6MPa working air pressure (product brochure). Specifications are for reference only; final specifications are subject to our quotation.
